BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WTOC) - Golfers in the Lowcountry hit the greens for a good cause.

Monday, dozens of golfers participated in the fifth annual Cupid's Arrow Golf Classic at Old Field Golf Course in memory of five-year-old John A. "Jack" Kolbush, who lost his battle to cancer back in March of 2006.

The tournament benefits a memorial fund in his honor at Backus Children's Hospital, helping patients with cancer or blood disorders and their families.

"The fund assists those children with various out of patient expenses that add up quickly like gas cards, meal vouchers, also does happy things like parties for the kids, gifts for the kids at Christmas," said Jack's mother, Janet Kolbush.

Friends and colleagues started the first tournament to help the Kolbush's during Jack's treatments. Now they've kept the tradition going to help others in their situation.

The tournament is named after Jack's stuffed animal dog, named cupid, that he always carried with him.
