WALTERBORO, SC (WTOC) - Three people, including a toddler, were killed and six more were injured in a drive-by shooting that happened in Walterboro Monday night.
The shooting happened around 10:45pm Monday on McDaniel Street in Walterboro.
Family members say they were sitting outside watching a football game and playing cards when a car pulled up and someone opened fire on the family.
"All I saw was a car pull up to a stop sign and start firing," said relative Lamont Kittrell. "We were just all on the porch playing cards, watching the football game and a car came up the street and started shooting by the house," said family friend Patrice Stephens. "We didn't know whether to run or fall or what."
Three people were killed in the shooting, 45-year-old Charles Kittrell, 21-year-old Christopher Powell and 20-month-old Shaniyah Burden.
"This is a tragedy to all of us," said Ruby Kittrell. "Three loved ones in one night, it's hard."
It's a night Ruby will never forget. She lost her brother Charles, her son Christopher and her granddaughter Shaniyah.
Police say Charles died at the scene, while Christopher and Shaniyah died at area hospitals.
Family members say they don't know who did this or why and are hoping for answers.
Walterboro police say they are looking for a black car with one headlight.
