NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Eggo Waffles are disappearing off grocery store shelves, and they may be gone for a while.

The shortage is caused by flooding and equipment problems in some of the Kellogg plants.

"I think that's insane. That's crazy," said parent Susan Herring. "How do you run out of waffles?"

Some Eggo boxes are still on the shelves, but they're not expected to last. While there are other waffle brands still available, you may be waiting until next year for more Eggos.

Some of the youngest waffle eaters say if they don't get back on the shelves soon, they're going to change what's for breakfast.

Some other students said they'd switch to pancakes and another said french toast.

A Kellogg's representative said they are working around the clock to put Eggos back on the shelves. He estimates the freezers will be full again in the second half of 2010.
