SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Savannah-Chatham County School District electronic parent notification system also paid off earlier this week. The call help save one mother's life.

Isle of Hope firefighter Brad Hollenbach went over to check on a home after two children were reported absent, and their father was worried. Once he got to the home, he found the mother unresponsive. She had gone into a diabetic coma.

"Once I got there I found the kids were watching tv in the bedroom, I asked them where their mom was and they said she was alseep and I found her unresponsive, she was almost gone," said Hollenbach.

"They are just very thankful for the school system and the call was a real life saver, it saved her life," said Isle of Hope principal Julie Gannam.

The notification system has been in place for two years now and principal Gannam says it has helped keep a line of communication between the parents and administrators.

We did speak with the father, who did not want to go on camera but says he is thankful the school notified him when they did.
