SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Some of Savannah's brightest students are flying high.
Gulfstream hosted the Savannah Science Seminar. A group of students from area schools who want to learn more about engineering, math, and medical practices attended. But it's not all books and calculators, these students got hands on training with Gulfstream's flight simulator.
"This is like a kid in a candy store, and they really are kids in a candy store. So, I think the fact that they get to fly in the simulator and experience what an aircraft is like, but also look behind it and see what all the thought process an engineer has to go through when designing an aircraft. I think it really helps them understand where they could contribute in the future," said Jim Gallagher.
The seminar didn't just stop at Gulfstream, they also held sessions at SCAD and Armstrong Atlantic State University and at Georgia Tech's Savannah campus. The program gives students a better sense of the careers out there for them.
