Prolong Cold Wave Upon Us

A surge of very cold air is moving into the region and will persist for the next 5 to 10 days. This prolong cold spell will result in several nights of hard freezes as temperatures will drop well into the 20s. Protection of exposed water pipes, irrigation pumps, and other objects that can freeze must be taken. To prevent susceptible pipes from freezing, run the water at a slow steady pace during the hours of sub freezing temperatures. Also, care for outdoor pets providing them with warm locations and keep water dishes from freezing. Care for window washing fluid in your cars needs to be taken if car is parked outside overnight.

This cold air mass will remain strong all of next week. Temperatures will moderate a tad by Wednesday as a cloud and light rain system moves into the region Thursday. This will be followed by with three more days of clear with hard freeze weather. It looks like it will warm up back to near normal values during the middle of the following week.
