FORT STEWART, GA (WTOC) - Students are helping out with the Haiti disaster.
Diamond Elementary students gave their principal the slime treatment Friday. Why does she deserve this gross encounter? She promised the students that if they raised $2,000 for the Haitian earthquake relief effort, she'd take one for the team. They did all that and more, raising over $4,000, an amazing accomplishment.
"Well, I'm extremely proud to participate in this recognition of them, and extremely proud of them and what they do for our soldiers, for our families back here, supporting our soldiers, and supporting the people of Haiti," said Col. Stewart McCrae.
Diamond Elementary does events like this regularly as part of their "Gator Trait of the Month" series, which teaches students different important characteristics they should live by. This month's trait: caring.
