SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The St. Patricks' Day festivities have unofficially began.

On Friday at noon, 2010 Grand Marshal Denny Herb and WTOC's coloring contest winner, Hayden Howze, turned the fountain in Forsyth Park green. See Chatham Academy student wins coloring contest.

A big crowd, from school kids to senior citizens, came out for the unofficial start of the St. Patrick's Day celebration in Savannah.

The fountain in Forsyth will stay green all the way through St. Patrick's Day, serving as a symbol of the many festivities that will be taking place throughout the city over the next week.
