
BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WTOC) - The Beaufort-Jasper Multi Jurisdictional Drug Task Force arrested three suspects for trafficking marijuana after an ongoing investigation.
Authorities wrapped up their investigation on March 10, narrowing down two residences on Hilton Head Island, one on Helmsman Way and the second on Guntree Road.
Investigators stopped a rented vehicle they saw leaving Helmsman Way on Highway 278 near Pinckney Colony Road in Bluffton. A drug canine indicated to authorities the presence of illegal drugs. Inside the vehicle, investigators found about 20 pounds of marijuana. Two suspects were arrested for trafficking marijuana, Jamaine Tandy and Vincent Robinson.
Authorities also stopped another vehicle in the Shelter Cove Mall area when they smelled marijuana coming from it. The search revealed more marijuana and other scheduled naracotics on the the driver, Veronica Amabile. She was arrested.
In a further investigation, the DTF says that Amabile, Tandy and Robinson conspired together to have pounds of Marijuana shipped to the Hilton Head Island area.
Search warrants were granted for the two residences on Helmsman Way and Guntree Road. They found more marijuana, guns, shipping material and drug paraphernalia at the Helmsman Way residence and a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at the Gumtree Road residence.
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says the investigation into the illegal trafficking of marijuana is still ongoing and they expect more arrests.
