SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Jennifer Carroll is on a mission to fight Juvenile Diabetes. Carroll is Georgia's captain for Zip the Cure, a grass roots campaign working hard to find a cure and raise money for research.

Every year doctors diagnose more than 15,000 children with diabetes. That's 40 children a day.

"I'm doing it in honor of my brother Jason who passed away two years ago at the age of 29 from complications due to Juvenile Diabetes," said Carroll.

The goal of Zip the Cure is to raise $100 in every zip code of the country.

"We're asking for is coworkers, neighbors, friends to pitch in $20. Buy your office zip code. Buy your favorite vacation spot in Georgia. Buy your own zip code or your grandmother's zip code," explained Carroll.

As each zip code is sold, the map on www.zipthecure.com will change the color of the zip code area from yellow to green.

Proceeds will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
