RIDGELAND, SC (WTOC) - A Lowcountry police officer is being honored for his hard work in keeping the streets safe.
Lt. Joey Ginn has been named the officer of the year for DUI enforcement by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. Over the last year he has made 67 DUI arrests.
"We feel that everytime we make a DUI arrest we're saving a life, whether it be the person we are arresting or someone who doesn't realize what is going on because we don't know what will happen a little ways down the road," said Lt. Joey Ginn.
Lt. Ginn has been with the department for three years.
