WTOC, Savannah, Georgia, news, weather and sports | Animal control's new facility officially opens

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Animal Control unit is hosting a grand opening of its brand-new Chatham Savannah Animal Shelter.
County and City officials will cut the ribbon at 1 p.m. Friday on the state-of-the-art facility. The new building is triple the size than the previous location and is climate controlled, according to SCMPD. The shelter has been open for adoptions since the beginning of July, but officially opens its doors on Friday.
A small reception is after the ribbon-cutting event, and the public can then tour the facility.
