Posted: Updated:

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) – A late night crash on Highway 46 killed one man and left two other people in a Savannah hospital.

John Brown, 29, of Florida, was killed Saturday night when he over-corrected his Toyota Corolla that had left the roadway, causing it to cross the median and collide head-on with an oncoming BMW, according to David Ott, Beaufort County Deputy Coroner.

Two passengers – one that was riding with Brown, the other, in the BMW – were transported to Savannah Memorial Hospital.

Police are investigating the crash, and waiting for toxicology results to determine if alcohol played a part.

The accident occurred at approximately 11:15 p.m., east of New River Bridge in Bluffton.
