SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The second suspect in an Ardsley Park shooting is now in police custody. Desmond Hunter turned himself at police headquarters around 1pm this afternoon.

Hunter joins Ashamir Johnson in the Chatham County Jail. Police say they shot Jason Statts and David Williams on June 28 in front of a home on E. 48th Street, they're charged with aggravated assault and armed robbery. See Big break in the Ardsley Park double shooting.

Friends and families of the victims say today's arrest is good news. "At least this part is over, they still have a long recovery process," said John Collenberger. He's known the victims for about 10 years.

Collenberger is in a band with them and visits the hospital as much as he can. Jason Statts remains paralyzed from the waist down. Dave Williams still has the bullet lodged in his neck. "Dave is doing much better, he might be out of the hospital this week," Collenberger said.

He said with both suspects behind bars, his friends can now focus on their recovery without worrying about the investigation. "It's a relief to have them off the street," said Collenberger. "It's sad it even happened at all."

The community has really rallied together to support Statts and Williams and their families, now there's a benefit concert in the works to help with lost wages and general expenses that have incurred.

The concert is set for August 2 at The Jinx on Congress Street. For more information go to www.stattswilliams.com.
