SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Some sad news to report from the WTOC newsroom today. Longtime anchor/managing editor Steven Shoob died this morning while he was doing what he loved to do.

He was covering an accident on Interstate 95 near Highway 21 when a car hit him while he was crossing the highway. He died on the scene.

Steven Shoob was born and raised in Savannah and graduated from Savannah High School. He started working at WTOC more than 20 years ago. In 2003, he won three Associated Press awards and the station's first Emmy.

Anyone who watches WTOC in the morning has seen his work on THE News at Daybreak and Steven himself on THE News morning updates during the CBS Early Show.

We will miss him greatly.
