GARDEN CITY, GA (WTOC) - A female teacher's aide accused of having sex with a male student was back in court today.
Garden City police said Erika Simmons had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy while she was working at Myers Middle School.
Today the judge was supposed to hear the evidence police have against Simmons. But Simmons' lawyer, Greg Crawford, asked to postpone the hearing.
Crawford said he wants to cross examine the detective who took a statement from Simmons, but that officer was not at work today. Crawford said he's not worried about the statement itself but how it was obtained.
The judge rescheduled the hearing. Simmons' next court date is January 28.
