Police Investigate Savannah Shooting Death

Police say about 8:45pm last night, some people walked up to an off duty Savannah police officer on Thackery Drive in Savannah, saying someone had been shot. The officer went to the corner of 59th and Medding Streets, where he found a young Savannah man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

He was rushed to Memorial Health where he died a short time later. The victim is identified as 18-year-old Eugene Jermaine Adger.

Witnesses tell detectives a large blue sport utility vehicle with two men inside pulled up near Adger and someone in the car shot him. The body will be sent to the GBI crime lab in Atlanta for an autopsy.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Savannah Police Department at 232-4141 or CrimeStoppers at 234-2020--a reward is being offered.
