A former priest, once associated with the Diocese of Savannah, has pled guilty to charges of child abuse and battery. Police say Wayland Brown molested children while working at a church in Maryland more than 30 years ago.
The 59-year-old Brown was extradited to Maryland in July. Today, he pled guilty to one count of child abuse and one count of battery involving two brothers who are both adults now.
Brown was an associate pastor at Saint James in Savannah from 1987 to 1988, but has not been active in the ministry since. He was still living in Savannah at the time of his arrest in June.
