BACON COUNTY, GA (WTOC) - There is more to learning than just taking tests and reading books. Bacon County High School is raising the bar for their students and creating many hands on experience opportunites.
The future is bright for Jackson Mosley and Johnathon Peacock, both won state awards from the Future Business Leader of America.
And the same can be said of senior Lance White, winner of the Bacon County Star Student award.
All these students are heading to national competitions this summer. For Lance White after that, he's heading to UGA on a full ride scholarship
"I've received the foundation fellowship award which is UGA's most prestigious award, most prestigious scholarship, it pays full tuition and comes with great travel opportunities," said Lance White.
Lance is planning to major in biochemistry. He attributes his success to the foundation from teachers from teachers here at Bacon County High School
"We have several great teachers who are passionate about teaching and their dedication shows through in their classes we have several great students," said White.
And Lance is right from website development to Bacon County High School's very own TV station.
The even have medical training and students run a healthy cafe.
"We offer healthier foods that taste good that way so many of our students won't eat just junk food at school," said student Kayla Waters.
It's clear these students are getting ready to enter the work field with real experience.
"I am thinking about going into the Army to become a physicians assistant and once I get out be a doctor in my own practice," said student Corey Sparks.
That experience is winning them awards that they should be proud of, which is pretty darn cool.
And that's what makes them a WTOC Cool School.
