Buying in bulk to create a weeks worth of meals

Here is a solution to beating the recession when it comes to cooking.  Use the same ingredients to cook different things.  For example, this week prepare hamburgers, tacos and lasagna casserole.  Almost all of the recipes use the same major ingredients so you can save by buying in bulk.

Shopping List

Tomatoes

Lettuce

Onions

Cheddar cheese

Mozzerella cheese

Sour cream

Taco shells

Taco seasoning

Egg noodles

Pasta sauce

Hamburger meat

Refried beans

Hamburger buns

 

Tacos

Prepare meat as directed on seasoning packet. Chop up tomatoes and mix with onions. Chop up lettuce, shred cheese. Heat refried beans and taco shells. Have fun making your own tacos topped with sour cream if desired!

Lasagna Casserole

Brown hamburger, drain off grease. Add 1 jar of tomato sauce. Boil egg noodles as directed on package. Drain egg noodles and mix with 16 oz of sour cream and 1 cup of shredded mozzerella cheese. Layer sauce and pasta mixture. Bake at 400° for 45 minutes. Serve with lettuce, tomato and chedder cheese salad.

If garlic bread is desired, sprinkle garlic powder and butter over open faced hamburger buns.  Broil under broiler until golden brown. 

Hamburgers

Mix hamburger meat and onion and pat into hamburger patties. Cook on grill. Serve on buns with tomato and mozzerella salad.

Tomato and mozzerella salad recipe

Dice tomatoes, dice mozzerella cheese and toss with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
