EFFINGHAM COUNTY (WTOC) - A wanted fugitive is now in custody in Effingham County after fighting Sheriff's deputies late last night.
Michael Justin Grovenstein, 27, of Reidsville, was apprehended after deputies received a tip on his whereabouts. Grovenstein had active warrants out of Tattnall County for burglary, interference with government property, theft by taking, and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. He also had active warrants out of Effingham County for probation violation.
When Effingham County deputies caught up with Grovenstein, he resisted arrest. He then had to be tased. After a struggle, deputies were able to get him in custody. While placed in the back of a patrol car, deputies say Grovenstein kicked out a window.
Grovenstein faces charges for felony obstruction of a law enforcement officer and interference with government property.
He remains in the Effingham County Jail without bond.
