Military Salute: Gunnery Sgt. William Call

By Jaime Dailey bio | email

BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) - They need no introduction when they come marching down the street and the Parris Island Marine Band always amazes the crowds. Like when they played at Monday's Memorial Day Ceremony at the Beaufort National Cemetery.

Gunnery Sgt. William Call is the Band Master for the Parris Island Marine Band and enjoys serving our country in this way.

"It makes me feel really great because I'm getting paid to do what I love to do. I've been doing it for 13 years," said Gunnery Sgt. Call.

Gunnery Sgt. Call has a lot of responsibilities.

"I make sure all the marines are taken care of, whether it's making sure they get paid on time or just making sure they come to work, healthy and ready to do what they need to do," he explained. "On top of that I'm also responsible for making sure the band sounds good."

While Gunnery Sgt. Call enjoys playing for crowds, it's his fellow Marines that make it all worthwhile.

"It's a treat to be able to come to work everybody and work with people who are so dedicated not only to this craft but to the United States marine Corps," said Gunnery Sgt. Call.

For serving his service and dedication to our country, WTOC salutes Gunnery Sgt. William Call.
