Supporters rally for Troy Davis

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Supporters are rallying once again for convicted killer Troy Anthony Davis.

Tuesday morning, the International Longshoreman spoke out about the case hoping to get more response from the community.

Davis is on death row for the killing Savannah police officer Mark MacPhail in 1989.

The ILA says the more people who support Davis, the better his chances are of getting his case re-opened by district attorney Larry Chisolm.

"He has the power," said Chester Dunham of Chisolm. "He is the top law office here in Chatham County and he has the power to open the case up and give Troy Davis a day in court. That's all we're asking for. Justice. That's the only thing we're asking for."

On Thursday, the United States Supreme Court is supposed to decide whether or not it will hear the case and send it back to federal court.

If so, it could be re-opened. If not, a new execution date will be set.
