The owner of Allyanna's Pizzeria on Savannah's Southside tells us about 9:30pm last night, a masked man armed with a sawed-off shotgun came into the store on Montgomery Cross Road. The man confronted the manager and demanded the money from the cash register. At first--the manager thought the man may have been joking, but the suspect made it clear he was serious.

"Then he proceeded to cock the shotgun and stick it in my manager's face," explained store owner James Wilson. "And when he did, my manager pulled a weapon from behind the counter and shot him."

The first bullet wounded the suspect and shattered the front glass of the business. The manager held the gun on the suspect in the doorway and told him not to move, but the suspect tried to run and the manager shot him two more times. The wounded man collapsed beside a Dumpster at the side of the business. He was rushed to Memorial Health where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not released any names yet.
