Oxendine on severe weather safety

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - WTOC asked insurance and fire safety commissioner John Oxendine about what people should do if they are caught in a storm.

"You want to get indoors if you are caught outside in lightning," he explained. "You want to get low, as low as you can. And you don't want to be around anything that can conduct electricity."

Commissioner oxendine also wanted remind people to turn off cell phones and stay away from trees, because those are two significant targets known to attract lightning.
