BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) - The Bluffton Bobcats opened their season Saturday with a home contest against in-town rival Hardeeville high school.
In the first quarter, Bluffton running back Desmond Jenkins was thrown for a loss by Hardeeville's Jerrell Knightton. The Bobcats were forced to punt, but after a high snap, Hardeeville's Dominique Riley recovered the ball in the end zone for the touchdown.
In the second quarter, Sophomore quarterback Phillip Harris connected with Brandon Blackshear in the endzone for a 12-0 Hardeeville lead.
In the final seconds of the half, Harris would throw the alley-oop pass to Blackshear once again for the touchdownand an 18-0 Hardeeville lead at the half.
The Bobcats would get on the board, but drop their home opener, 18-6 to Hardeeville.
