(WTOC)- The Georgia Southern Eagles dropped their first SoCon road test, 28-14 to Elon.
Defensively, the Eagles showed remnants of last week's record setting performance over Western Carolina, with career nights for several players on the GSU defense. The only problem this time, it was too little too late.
Elon quarterback Scott Riddle completed 25-of-41 passes for 338 yards, 273 in the first half. With his performance Saturday, the junior became the Southern Conference all-time leader in pass completions.
In the second half, the GSU defense held Elon to a field goal, but the offensive unit couldn't capitalize on two drives late in the game.
Lee Chapple finished 18-of-35 for 122 yards and a touchdown with three interceptions.
