SAVANNAH (WTOC) - With another exciting week of high school football in the books, the Savannah Quarterbacks Club took a moment to honor their top picks, with the best lineman and back from the past two weeks.

Beach High's Simon Heyward and Country Day Cornerback Kevin Blackburne took home the Backs of the Week award.  Heyward recorded an interception and two touchdowns the Bulldog win over rivaled Savannah High.

"To be honest with you, I was in the gym lifting weights." Heyward said.  "My coach told me he needed me to go get some changing clothes.  And I was like for what?  He said you made the quarterback club.  And I asked him what it was because I didn't know at first, and he told me I would see.  I'm here, now I see."

Country Day's Kevin Blackburne got the nod from the week before. Blackburne finished with 191 receiving yards, nine catches and two touchdowns

"It's nothing like I've ever done before.  I've never experienced something like this.  With so many people coming together for one cause.  For me especially, I've never really been under this kind of light so it's wonderful for one night," Blackburne added.

Earning Lineman of the Week honors were Beach defensive end Antwan Wilborn and Benedictine offensive lineman Tommy Dodsworth.  Wilborn finished with 5 solo tackles and a sack over Savannah High Friday night.

"I made them throw the ball kind of quick," he said.  "I was just all over the field.  They really weren't running my side because they knew that they weren't getting it on my side.  They were avoiding me after that.  I was just trying to get everywhere."

Benedictine's Dodsworth said his performance over Pierce County was an inspired one.

"That was one of the biggest games for me.  Just like a personal battle against the guys.  Lined up on me in the trenches.  I just wanted to show no mercy."
