(CBS) - Each year, more than a million Americans suffer from heart attacks.
Hundreds of thousands die before ever getting to a hospital and many patients have no warning signs.
But that could change.
There is a new, ongoing experimental trial that uses an implant to "page" heart patients when they've got a problem.
The device monitors the heart's EKG or electrical activity, looking for changes that occur before a heart attack.
So far, 14 hospitals in the US are participating in this clinical trial. If you're a heart patient interested in finding out more, visit http://www.angel-med.com/.
