By WTOC Staff

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Residents in the Coastal Health Distict can now get information on the H1N1 flu 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling 1.888.497.8444. This is a toll free line that provides information on how H1N1 is spread, how to avoid getting the flu and answers other frequently asked questions regarding the H1N1 flu.

The hotline was created to better spread information regarding the virus to citizens in the Coastal District, which covers Bryan, Camden Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long and McIntosh counties.

"Flu activity still remains widespread and the 2009 H1N1 virus continues to be the current dominant influenza virus circulating in our communities," said Coastal Health District chief medical Officer Dr. Diane Weems in a news release. "It is my hope that the Coastal Health District information line will provide our citizens with the knowledge they need to help combat the spread of the virus."
