SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah youth were treated to a special gift Monday: a basketball lesson with the pros.
Former Harlem Globetrotters Larry " Gator" Rivers and Tyrone "Hollywood" Brown were among other instructors teaching the fundamentals of the game to over 30 Savannah youth at the West Broad Street YMCA.
Rivers, also a Savannah native, said he's had success teaching the game in other areas around the country, but wanted to bring those efforts back home. The 3-day clinic is the start of an effort called "Gator Academy" which offers basketball instruction, in addition to overall wellness training.
