SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A group of women donated a year's worth of work Thursday morning to one of their favorite causes.
The Lady's Auxiliary of the Salvation Army gave Savannah-Chathampolice 100 teddy bears. The bears go to a variety of people and the ladies say a small gesture of gratitude is worth all the work.
"You can tell from the expressions on their face when you put a teddy bear with an Alzheimer's patient in the nursing home, hospital children, just every face," Jan Saylor from the Lady's Auxiliary said. "And we've never left anywhere where we haven't been rewarded."
These bears will ride around in the police cruisers and when officers have to deal with situations involving children or mentally ill elderly victims, they'll give them the bears to help them feel better.
