ITEMS FOR DEPLOYED SOLDIERS The Savannah Chapter of the National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors (SAIFA) and the female motorcycle club, The Bomber Girls LRC, will be joining forces for a collection drive for the deployed US Army soldiers from the Savannah area. The event will be held Wednesday, May 16th at the Carey Hilliard's Restaurant located at 11111 Abercorn Street. The collection drive will run from 11:30am to 1:30pm. A few items needed are toothpaste, dental floss, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, lip balm, deodorant, toothbrushes, disposable razors, non-alcohol baby wipes, laundry sheets, batteries, playing cards, eye drops, mouthwash, white cotton socks, and flip flops for showers. PROJECT RUNWAY Project Runway is taking over 24e! Exposing the raw, lucid beauty of the underground fashion scene. This exclusive event featuring Project Runway's Peach Carr, Mangled Courtesan by April Johnston and The Exquisite Corpse by Michael Drummond will be held on Friday, May 18th. The doors will open at 8:00pm, cocktails will be served between 8:00pm to 8:45pm. The Fashion Show will begin between 8:45pm to 9:15pm. VIP tickets are $40 which includes drink tickets, front row seats and VIP bags from Sponsors. General Admission is $25, and $15 for SCAD students. FLEET FEET SPORTS & ROCK 'N' ROLL MARATHON Fleet Feet Sports will be celebrating 10 years of encouraging active lifestyles by expanding. An additional 4,000 square feet of space has been added to the business. The Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening of the newly renovated 6,000 square feet of space will begin at 9:55am on Friday, May 18th and will go through Saturday, May 19th. This event is free and open to the public. The Grand Opening will serve to introduce the new 3-in-1 store concept, as the space is divided into racing, running and women sections. Discounts will be available all day Friday and Saturday. There will also be a raffle on the hour every hour.
With Fleet Feet Sports' C.R.E.W. training programs workout options will never be limited. The Rock 'n' Roll Marathon & 1/2 will be held on Saturday, November 3rd. There are great training opportunities available with a lot to offer, and the programs only require running 3 days a week. Training locations are Downtown, Midtown, Richmond Hill, Statesboro, and Pooler. A fee of $250 includes training from June to November. Run Schedule is at 6:00am and 6:30pm groups during the week; Saturday long runs begin at 6:30am. Training Programs will include group support with great coaches, a free technical running T-shirt, cardio assessment, body fat assessment, educational seminars by health professionals, and free entry to the Savannah Mile.
