Retired General Speaks

A voice of experience, the former commander of Fort Stewart, spoke with WTOC. Retired Lt. Gen. Donald Rosenblum served in Korea and Vietnam and knows what the troops are going through. He described the soldier's experience on the brink of combat.

"He's checking his equipment, putting away stuff that he won't carry on his back, and checking ammo and weapons, all the things he supposed to have," Rosenblum said. "Those that haven't been in combat, when they have free time, are apprehensive. 'How am I going to do?' Unless you've been in combat, you don't understand what's going through a guy's mind."
