SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Some of our Third ID Soldiers packed up and left for Haiti this weekend.

More than 150 soldiers with the 10th Transportation Company - 26th Quartermasters are down there right now helping with the recovery effort. We caught up General Jeffery Phillips today to see how its going so far.

"Their chief job will be to transport materials that have come in, I am sure people have heard from the media that it's hard to transport materials to people and the 10th Transportation Company will be part of the solution their equipment will be arriving shortly,"said Phillips.

The soldiers are expected to spend at least six months in Haiti maybe even longer all depends on how long they are needed.
