SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The 2010 Savannah Black Heritage Festival kicked off Saturday afternoon with an opening memorial service.

The service was held at the First African Baptist Church where Reverend Tillman gave the opening commencement.

The group then conducted a silent march to the African American Monument and the Haitian Memorial Monument.

Wreaths were laid at both memorials to remember the lives of the African American men and women of the Savannah community - past, present and future.
