Many people are turning to a higher power for support during the war. Churches are opening their doors, like the Carteret Street United Methodist Church in Beaufort. Thousands of people in Beaufort have friends and family serving in the Middle East. Pastors hope by opening their doors, more people will pray for our troops and their families.
"At this important time in the life of our country, we have the church open so people can come in and pray for our troops and our country," said Pastor Mitch Houston. "Especially those in our church and community who are serving in Iraq during this time."
Pastor Houston says they'll keep the church open during the day for as long as people need a place to turn.
