STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - More than a dozen softball teams will take to the diamond this weekend to help a Statesboro boy.
A.J. Scott is living with Dushenne's, a form of muscular dystrophy highlighted in the documentary Darius Goes West. Members of the softball team at his church, Eastern Heights Baptist Church have organized a tournament to help raise money to help cover his medical expenses.
"All of us guys think of AJ as one of our own and we want to do all we can to help him because he touches all of us in so many ways," explained Jeff Mitchell, one of the organizers.
The second annual Batting for AJ tournament starts Friday at 6:30pm and continues all day Saturday at the Jenkins County Recreation Department. There are a few more team slots. To register a team, call Jeff Mitchell at 912.536.2070.
