Kingston Opposes French Company's Contract

Just recently a french-owned company, Sodexho, signed an eight-year contract to provide meals for 55 garrison mess halls across the country for the United States Marines. Sixty members of Congress oppose the contract and don't want to see the French government profit off of our servicemen and women.

"They do about a billion dollars' worth of business with the American military," said First District Representative Jack Kingston. "What my concern is, is here we got our Marines counting their casualties and we've got a French company counting its profit. It just does not send a good message to the soldiers out there."

Congressman Kingston asked Defense Secretary Rumsfeld to immediately review the contract between the US armed services and the French company.
