SAVANNAH, Ga (WTOC) - Cavaliers' football standout Dustin Dauphinee was a star in the eyes of all those who knew him.
On the field, Dauphinee earned first-team All-State honors in consecutive seasons, while also grabbing the attention of the Savannah Quarterback Club, earning their prestigious Player of the Week honor in 2008.
Tuesday morning, the Calvary Day junior was killed in a car accident. The news of his death sent shockwaves through the Calvary Day School campus.
"All the things you wanted a player to be, he was," said Calvary football coach Mark Stroud. "You didn't have to push him. He would push himself. He was doing everything in his power to be as good as he could be."
Teammate Richard Thomas echoed the thoughts of head coach Mark Stroud.
"Out on the football field, playing together, he brought intensity out there," Thomas said. "He had a love and a compassion. He would do anything for you."
