Top honors for a top student unit. The ROTC battalion at Georgia Southern University received the Army's prestigious MacArthur Award last Friday evening at the Mighty 8th Air Force Museum in Pooler.
The GSU unit was one of only eight in the nation to earn this award. For perspective, there are almost 500 total Army-Air Force-Navy-Marine ROTC programs within America's colleges and universities. Being among the elite-eight is an incredible distinction.
Our congratulations to the men and women of Georgia Southern's ROTC battalion for the honor they've earned for themselves, for their school, and for our region. And our thanks to all in our two-state viewing area who've made that same commitment to ROTC skills and leadership training, intending to enter the service of our nation upon graduation. There is no greater calling than the defense of America's independence and freedom.
As you stand proud, know that you have the encouragement and thanks of a grateful nation for your choice to serve.
