Sweet Home Arizona
For decades now, saluting the political correctness flag, and the banner of political-pandering, the Feds have failed to shut our borders, enforce the law, and better-protect our citizens and states, both physically and financially. So now, like the Fed's decades of shameful abdication on the subject of English as our rightful official language, Arizona's elected leaders have taken responsibility for their own well-being, carefully-crafting their own legal, legislative action against illegal immigration. Of course, requiring legal-residency has irritated the all-earth crowd, convinced that national borders are just fictional-lines invented by Rand-McNally. Awakened also, our border-blind Administration, hoping, now, to jam-through "comprehensive immigration reform," using three words to describe one: amnesty.
The President labeled the Arizona law "mis-guided." Free to express that opinion, it's off-plumb by 180. Lefty whiners, not the pitcher for the Padres, but those who, with robotic-regularity, falsely-proclaim "profiling" and "racism," raise such, fearing a loss of amnesty-enabled future voters. Not only those from southern nations, untold radical jihadies have also entered illegally. For those horrified that people might have to prove they belong here, producing a photo ID is already routine and national ID cards are inevitable. This is not about immigration, but rampant illegal immigration, a distinction opponents won't make. It's about providing for legal residents, while reducing the budget-drain illegals impose on our hospitals, schools and social services. With D.C. absent, Arizona's bold move is the right one, roundly supported by residents. As an antidote to pen-stroke amnesty, more of our border states, especially, should follow Arizona's impressive lead.
