Hussein's Number Two Man in Custody

Tariq Aziz, deputy prime minister of Iraq, is now believed to be in custody of coalition forces. A senior defense official, asked about reports that Aziz turned himself in, said, "We believe it to be true."

It is reported he first made contact through intermediaries to negotiate the terms of his surrender.

After Saddam Hussein, he was the number two official in the regime, and to a large degree, the public face of Iraq. He could also be a man who really knows the fate of Saddam Hussein.
