Georgia Lawmakers Approve New State Flag

Georgia could be getting a new flag - again. Late Friday night, the Georgia Legislature approved a modified version of the proposed flag. The new flag would be similar to a Confederate national flag, but without the Confederate battle emblem. If it's approved by Governor Sonny Perdue, voters will then have to choose between the new flag and the current Georgia flag next March. Voters will not have the option of picking the old state flag with the Confederate battle emblem. The Senate approved the proposal 33 to 23. The House approved it 91 to 86.
