Savannah City Council met today to talk about a possible police merger. They went over a contract--maybe the final one--agreed upon by city and county officials. But not everyone on city council is convinced the merger is a good idea. Some have questions about police promotions and how much police visibility there will be on Savannah's streets.
"We want to make sure that everyone on city council and county commission understands everything that's being proposed and we're working through it issue by issue, item by item," said Chief Dan Flynn of Savannah PD.
County commissioners want to come to an agreement before July 1. City officials may vote on the issue in two weeks.
