SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Cancer survivors and their families gathered Sunday for a fashion show that was far from typical.
The models were beautiful, the clothes stunning; but every man and woman taking the runway had cancer.
The annual "Runway to Recovery" event returned to Savannah on Sunday, providing an enjoyable outing for cancer survivors and their families, while raising money for a holiday fund for cancer patients.
Byron Reed was among the survivors taking part. He had colon cancer that spread to his liver. "To see other survivors is very motivating," he said.
Kay Sapp, a breast cancer survivor, also participated. "It's very special to be asked to do this because you have to be a survivor. We all have that in common," she said.
The event is put on by the Southeast Georgia Oncology Nursing Society and was emceed by WTOC's own Sonny Dixon.
