WTOC was pleased to take home many top honors from the Georgia Associated Press 2002 Awards in April. Among them were some of the most coveted prizes in the news business, the Best Newscast award and the Associated Press Pacemaker award for best overall news operation.

Additionally, our Steven Shoob and Elizabeth Garcia took home an Emmy award for television news excellence and outstanding achievement in June. The award was for their coverage of the 38th Street fire. They, along with WTOC news director Larry Silbermann picked up the award at a ceremony Saturday night in Atlanta.

Relaxing outside this Father's Day afternoon? Showers and thunderstorms will continue drifting across the Coastal Empire and Low Country into the early evening hours. Since these storms aren't moving fast, you can expect water to collect on roadways if you're caught under a downpour. The good news is that we will be much drier by sunset, meaning your dinner grilling plans are still a go!
