SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -The Savannah Wildcats have proven, they have what it takes to overcome adversity.
Up against fellow CBL team, the Wilmington Sea Dawgs, the Wildcats prevailed with an overtime win in the title game, for franchise's first league championship.
"I've never been around a group of guys that when faced with adversity show such character and grit," said Wildcats guard Joe Flegler.
"We had every opportunity to fold. We lost a late lead, but we kept fighting and fortunately we came out with the win."
"I love every one of these players," added head coach Lamont Moreno. "They gave their heart and soul to me throughout the whole year."
The day after their big win, the Wildcats shared their hearts, and time, with children at Memorial hospital.
"Actually this is the most important part of it," said former Beach standout Dominique Williams. "You have kids that look up to you being that you play professional basketball and for us to give back to the community and work with sick kids, that's always a blessing."
"It's important because it's bigger than us," Flegler added. "When you're in the position to be a proponent for the community, you have to give back and being here is definitely a blessing."
"[This is] definitely a great way to celebrate a championship rather than partying in the streets," Williams said.
"I'd much rather be doing this."
