A summer home spruce-up for many who've served. Teens and others from around Georgia gathered in Savannah last week to help brighten the homes and days of some area military veterans. Their organization is the House of Heroes, based in Columbus, Georgia. Said one of the young participants: "As long as I'm doing something for someone else, this is definitely a project I want to do." By helping locally, the group hopes to raise awareness of their mission to give back to our veterans, with the larger hope that local chapters might spring up in Savannah, Beaufort, Hinesville and any other community where our great veterans choose to live.
Our thanks to Windsor Forest Baptist Church for their help in housing our teen visitors. And very special thanks to these, and all other, selfless young Americans, who "get it," who understand the magnitude of the debt we all owe to the courageous men and women who, today, and through the decades, have done whatever it took, to protect our nation and freedom.
