Because of severe weather, the American Red Cross is asking for your help. Relief efforts from the devastation of tornadoes in other parts of the country have depleted the Red Cross Disaster relief fund. Officials are afraid another large storm might wipe out the fund completely.
"There were something like 230 tornadoes that have devastated the Midwest and the South," said Harvey Libow, vice president of the local Red Cross. "And this is taking the funds. Just sucking the funds up."
Libow says this is a nationwide problem for the Red Cross, and if you would like to donate just call your local chapter. The Savannah chapter can be reached at: 651-9900.
